Intro to the Theme

       This fashion blog will be focused on contemporary technologies in fashion (or vice versa) and their developement.

       Firstly it can be said that fashion and technology, once mutually exclusive, are becoming expressively combined together. Therefore, a wide spectrum of opinions has occured and is still really controversial. For instance, Lenihan (2012) reported for "The Business of Fashion" that the entrepreneurs who have a deep understanting and are able to manage both the fashion industry and technology will be prosperous and will be able to realise all the potential in this combination of technology and fashion.

       On the other hand, Lenihan (2012) observed that the good knowledge of fashion-tech is a big challenge too. Recent opportunity to use technology in creation of shopping experiences has shown that despite the online store's replication of the emotional connection with a physical store, there still exists a need or a want to shop in a more traditional way. It is necessary to mention that physical and online shopping have a tremendous amount of opportunities in technologies and the various ways to the improvement.

       Secondly and obviously the technology is transforming the relationships amongst brands, retailers and their consumers as well. Therefore, this blog will be the observation of the key elements in technology and will be divided in a few sectors. Here is a list of the main sub-themes what will be identified in this blog:
  • History of blogging (about this specific theme);
  • Technology in physical and online store (advertising, supply chain, interactive store's solutions);
  • Wearable technologies (LED lights resort in garments, digital makeover, solar power);

       Finally, it is necessary to say that fashion and technology should be organised with other important parts in this business (logistics, supply chain operations, etc). According to Cachon and Swinney (2011), a fast fashion system combines quick response production capabilities with enhanced product design capabilities to both design "hot" products that capture the latest consumer trends and exploit minimal production lead times to match supply with uncertain demand. Consequently, there is a need to indicate and apply such technological elements as RFID, QR-codes and innovative thinking towards contemporary fashion and its demand. In other words, tech-fashion is a huge and reticular web operated by many details and this will be attempted to explain in the following posts.
